The Presiding diety is Shri Krishna, in the standing posture with four hands (Chaturbahu) That carry the Sankhu (conch), the Sudarshana chakram (a serrated disk), the Lotus and Mace.The Lord is worshipped in his many manifestations,the favorite with devotees being the ‘Sankalpa’ of the Lord as GURUVAYURAPPAN (Infant Krishna). For devotees South Chittoor is Dakshina Guruvayur.

The hereditary Tantri (Head Priest) of the temple is from the Chennas Mana.

The Temple is a classic example of typical Kerala architecture style.The Sreekovil, where the idol of the Lord installed,is square in shape with pyramidal roofing.The roof covered in copper sheets and door in brass. On either side of the door, two statues of ‘Dwarapalakas’ are seen.

In front of the sreekovil, is the Namaskara Mandapam. It is rectangular in shape with Pyramidal roofing.The sreekovil surrounded by a wall strecture calles the Nalambalam or the Chuttambalam. On the left side of the sreekovil, a small temple well known as the ‘Manikkinar’ is located. To the right of the sreekovil,forming part of the Chuttambalam, the temple kitchen known a s the ‘Thidappalli’ is seen. The Shiva-Ganapathi temple is on the right side of the sreekovil. Out side Nalambalam and in front of the entrance the Kodimaram or Dhwajastambham (Flagpole of the temple) can be seen.


The Vilakkumatam, which is an intricate array of metal lamps, attached to the outside walls of Nalambalam. On auspicious occasions like Niramala, Chittoor Ekadashi,Ashtami Rohini (Sri Krishna Jayanthi), Punartham Thirunal, Lakshadeepam on Deepavali Anuual festival.

The whole area between the main entrance and the Kodimaram is covered with a tiled roof called Nadappura which provides shelter for the pilgrims waiting for worship and is decorated with pictures.Annaprasam and Thulabaram are conducted here.There is a big Temple Bell in the Nadappura.

The temple pond (Agnihotratheertham) is on the northern side of the temple. It is here that The diety or the Utsava Vigraha is bathed (Arratu) on the last day of Utsavam (Annual Festival)

The huge statue of ‘Kaleeyamardanam’ (Lord Krishna standing on top of big ‘Sarpam’ (snake) ‘Kaleeya’) is seen on the left side of main entrance, attracted by many devotees especially children during their visit to the temple..

The ‘Ootupura’ or the Dining Hall in typical Kerala style architecture with all amenities like Kalyanamandapam, Koothambalam, Programme stage,accommodation for Melsanthi/employees and office complex is being constructed on the south side of the temple.

It is observed from devotees that Adiya Enna ie.oil extracted from the body of lord made up of Anjanasila after abhishekam is a divine and powerful medicine for acute ‘Vatham’(Rheumatic Complaint).Devotees stay at temple premises(bajanam) for 41 days and apply ‘adiyaenna’ of Sri Chittoorappan. .Facilities available at devaswom Sathram for devotees’ accommodation.


UPADEVAS

Sivan-Ganapathy

Unlike other Upadevas finding a place outside Nalambalam,here apart from presiding diety Sri Krishna,Siva-Ganapathy Upadevas installed and worshiped on the south-western corner of Sreekovil itself inside Nalambalam.

Kandankulangara Bhagavathy

The shrine of Bhagavathy situated on the north-eastern part of the main temple on the banks of Agnihothra Theertham(temple pond).The shrine said to be 1700 years old and goddess is there much before the main diety.Bhagavathy looked upon the upadevatha (subordinate diety)of the temple. The strong belief is that Bhagavathy is Bhadrakali and a seperate shrine buit for goddess.Thiruvathira thalappoli is the main festival during Dhanu (Dec-Jan)every year. Ist three days are very important as Rohini,Makeeryam,and thiruvathira thalappoli arrived from defferent parts of the village in the temple.Parayeduppu(visit of bhagavathy through village to enquire welfare of people ) Devotees receive bhagavathy with ‘para’ and ‘vilakku’.Procession from Blai received at the temple during night with ‘Para’ and melam.Customery practices like Ettangadi,’Pathirapoove’ etc. also celeberated during night.On the 7th day night after thiruvathira, performed Theeyattu, and during midnight Guruthi is conducted outside temple premises. Only gents are permitted to attend during Guruthi pooja.

Hanuman

Chiranjeevi ,Sree rama baktha Hanuman worshiped in a separate shrine on the western part of the main temple. Daily Pooja perfomed as per tradition.

Nagam & Bbrahmarakshas

Nagam and Brhamarakshas worshiped in a sepearte place on the north western part of the temple.Ayilayam pooja, and Palpayasam are the main vazhipadu to Nagam and Rakshas.
